The institute is governed by a council made up of prominent retailers and health food industry leaders who give their and their own company's time and resources freely in the cause of meeting the need for the highest professional standards.
The Chair of the Council is currently (April 2005) Liz
Chandler, who co-owns Natures Corner, in Newbury.
Council Treasurer is Tom Moses, of Re-Action Sales and Marketing

John Frisby, Food for Living, in Dartford and Sidcup, Kent.
Stuart Jackson, from the Natural Trade Show and Force of Nature
Julie Goodwin has two shops in Hertfordshire, each called Natural Health.
Jen Tan of Bioforce manufactures and distributes Alfred Vogel's famous organic fresh herb tinctures, tincture tablets, foodstuffs and botanical supplements.
Birgitta Stevenson is the co-owner of Applejacks health food shop
Callum Eddie is the co-owner of Grampian Health Foods
